So give away something free but of value. If your marketing motive is to create a viral product that spreads like wildfire in the internet, then you are more likely to be successful if you give away a viral product that is useful to people. So if your free giveaway is just another useless gimmick, it is not going to spread like the wildfire that you intended it to be. At best, it is just going to be a flash in the pan. It is not going to be passed around.

However, even if your free giveaway is an original and very useful to everyone, what will make others spread it everywhere, ie, go viral? What is going to make anyone, even the kindest of all people, take the time to give away this very valuable tool on to someone else? How do you ask them? Or maybe you can dangle the proverbial carrot to them?

Put a few affiliate links in the product. This strategy does not only apply to ebooks or reports, but to anything else, like a free tool, template, etc. Place the affiliate link to a tool or template somewhere around the copyright notice. Better still if these links were to an affiliate program. Allow the person to replace the link with their own affiliate links. This would definitely be the ‘carrot’ to motivate the person to pass on a useful tool or template to someone else if you give them the opportunity to make money while doing so.

So give anything away for free. Anything of value, that is, and see your traffic explode.
