Google Adsense Click Fraud is the act of clicking on Google ads in a webpage or website for the satirical purpose of costing the advertiser money. It is like paying out cash for false leads ( from irresponsible clicking of the ads).

Many website owners are getting their Google Adsense account terminated through no fault of theirs, simply because visitors are irresponsible and engage in the click fraud with the formers’ websites.

Considering the revenue to be made from Google Adsense ads, it is no wonder that website owners want to do everything within their power to eradicate irresponsible visitors from their sites. The website owners are aware of click fraud and are sharing the same sentiment that this is one big problem that Adsense is facing.

The following are simple measures that you as the website owners can use to prevent being involved in click fraud:

Many web hosting accounts offer access logs. If this is offered to you, it is necessary that you hand it over to Google as well. This allows Google to look for any suspicious activity on your site. Problems like click fraud are very serious and giving the access logs to Google is like saying that you are willing to do what it takes to help the former in anyway you can to solve the problem of click fraud.

The second measure you can take is having a click monitoring software. If you do not have one yet, you should try and get one, especially when many of such software are free. The information you get from the software should be turned over to Google, showing that you too are fighting against click frauds and is in no way a part of it.

The next thing you should do is study your server logs and watch for any activity that seems suspicious. Anything that you may find odd, be it big or small, should be reported back to Google. For all you know, a click fraud activity may be simmering right there on your site.

You may also want to consider disabling ads for your own IP address and local geographic area. This will help prevent clicking accidents and avoid the occurrence of Google mistaking another user for you. This you can do through a htaccess file.

Keep your Adsense off on pop-ups and pop-unders.

Your ads should also not be displayed on content sites that promote illegal activity or tampering of the legal rights of other people or business. Included in this are the contents that are considered as adult, including gambling sites. If you think that you may be breaking this rule, immediately remove your content or Adsense ads from the webpage.

You should always be truthful and confess to Google when you may have clicked on your own ads, be it intentionally or otherwise. Or the times when you have done something that is against the Terms of Service that they are implementing. Be honest about any wrong-doing that you may have done. Confessing to a wrong-doing is much better than Google having to learn it themselves, which they always do anyway. It will mean eventual termination. Worse, you will not get back everything that you have worked so hard for.

The worst mistake you’ll ever make is to tell your family and friends about Adsense on your website. Chances are they may start clicking on them to help you make money without you knowing it. They may be doing more harm to you than help. It would help if you brief them on important things about Adsense and make them understand that they cannot click your ads so many times as to raise suspicion, and getting your ads, or worse your site banned by Google.

Many pay per click networks such as Google, have different measures in hand to protect website owners against click frauds. They also have “systems” and specialized teams monitoring how things are going and helping you and other advertisers stop click frauds.
